Episode 24: The Midwest Run.

Listen to Episode 24

This week, Justin and I tackle the Midwest Run of Phish Summer Tour 2011. Justin attended all 3 in person, while I was on couch tour. Overall, we both liked DTE and Blossum, but felt Riverbend fell a little short. That said, Phish is playing very well, and no one is complaining. And by the end of the year, we bet there will be some clips pulled from this episode for the “Best of 2011″.

Thanks for listening,

Stephen Olker

  1. I am an avid listener to your program. I think your in-depth analysis to the shows complement the in concert experience a lot. I have boatloads of compliments and have learned a lot from your show.

But your discussion of the DTE show was disappointing to say the least. I was looking forward to some more expert discussion on one of the best shows of 3.0.

    • Sorry that our DTE coverage disappointed. Things are hectic with the tour schedule, the usual lead time to craft an episode is less than normal. Not making excuses, just providing some insight.

Thanks for listening and providing feedback, it is appreciated.

      • I agree with jdisk, but you have an opportunity to revisit it in depth with a Best Of Summer Tour I , and you will be able to juxtapose the DTE & Blossom shows with the North Carolina shows.

        Can’t wait!

  2. will definitely be a best of…. no worry on that.

  3. My only criticism of the show would be referring to those towns as midwest. Michigan I can sort of grant, but I’d call it the northern U.S. And, I know Ohio gets lumped in with the midwest, but it’s pretty far east. Eastern time zone, even.

What’s important, though, was the show, which was great. Nice clips with good, honest analysis. That “Have Mercy” was beautiful.

And again, kudos for continuing to mix up the panel and pull off episodes with varying numbers of panelists.

  4. @jdisk – thank you for the constructive criticism.

@bankmeister – thanks for the kind words.

  5. Hi Deric,I am really not sure if I look good in phtoos, but I want to try to find a photographer to take some b/w portraits for me. So should I just hire you as my photographer or something? This might seem a little odd, but thanks for reading my message.Sonia
