Episode 71: Trey at the NSO

Listen to Episode 71

Type II is coming at you this week with a short episode to review Trey at the National Symphony Orchestra. I am pleased to report that this episode’s panel consists of Drew Hitz and Stephen Tuzeneu (TWoL). Drew had the honor of playing in the orchestra (tuba) and Tuzeneu was in the audience. For the first time ever, we have no clips to play, so I threw in a bonus outro. Also, be sure to check Jambase for the full setlist and a video clip of the YEM.

As I said on the last episode, STAY TUNED FOR THE GAME SHOW IN JUNE. Details soon.

Thanks for listening,

  1. Congrats to Drew. This was a very special episode to hear his passion and what an awesome moment it must have been for him.
I must say that this podcast has really grown into something very special over the past couple years. Steve you do a fantastic job, I always look forward to the next episode and regularly listen to old episodes. Thanks for all the hard work you put into it. Great great stuff.

    • Thanks for the kind words, Zach. I know you’ve been listening for a long time, and it was definitely rough around the edges in the beginning. I would bet some people didn’t stick around. Let’s just hope this stellar panel and wonderful guests stick around too. They make the real magic happen!

      • I really enjoyed the earlier episodes, even while you guys were getting used to the format etc. It takes courage to take a risk so it’s cudos to you for sticking with it. I bet more people stuck around than you think. You guys are the only ones doing what you are doing in the phish community in terms of being able to listen to passionate people speaking passionately about phish. There are a lot of great blogs out there but typeiicast is the only podcast I know of.

  2. I’d also like to congratulate Drew… it was a blast following along on Twitter! As Zach said before me, it’s incredible hearing his passion for the music. Also, it’s great to hear about the second Mike’s jam!

Drew: I’m curious. Do you get to keep the music you played with Trey? Does it stay in the Kennedy Center’s library? Are the scores digital? I’m a high school music teacher, and I would *kill* to see the score for any of those tunes. Not that my students could play it, mind you, but just for my own curiosity!
